I. Bridle & Leather Care
Leather care with Schockemöhle Sports leather care products
Schockemöhle Sports offers a wide range of leather care products that have been specially adapted to the range of snaffle and leather goods.
Find out here which individual advantages each product offers and how your Schockemöhle Sports leather product can be ideally cared for:
Schockemöhle Sports Saddle Soap (Leather Cleaning): This is especially suitable for the first cleaning of saddles, girths or even the middle part of the front cloth. Products that have been cleaned with the saddle soap then require further, final care with e.g. a leather balm. It should be noted that some leather products should be greased less frequently (e.g. saddle girths) and therefore the saddle soap should not be applied too often to these items in the previous step.
Schockemöhle Sports Spray Soap (Leather Cleaning): The ready-to-use spray soap can be dosed precisely and stored neatly. It is very suitable for snaffles and reins, stirrup leathers, girths and breastplates. The advantage of spray soap is that the leather does not dry out as much as when using classic saddle soap. Nevertheless, a final care with leather balm or grease should take place occasionally. Stirrup leathers should not be greased if possible, girths and reins only from time to time.
Schockemöhle Sports Leather Balm (Leather Care): After cleaning with saddle soap, this leather grease with beeswax is best suited for the care of saddles. It is also to be used for the care of very dried out leather.
Schockemöhle Sports Leather Lotion (Leather Care): Bridles and reins, as well as breastplates can be maintained after cleaning best with the leather lotion. This is re-fatting, but at the same time not too greasy. Also saddle girths can be maintained after cleaning occasionally with it.
Of course, all cleaning and care products can also be used for all other products. It should be remembered that saddle soap cleans heavy soiling best, but should always be re-cared.
Leather grease - and especially leather oil - provides rich care, but can also soak heavily used leather very much and thus unintentionally lengthen. We therefore advise against the care with leather oils for our products.
Snaffle Browbands with Crystals & Swarovski® Elements
A large number of our Schockemöhle Sports snaffles feature handmade browbands with beautiful crystals and genuine Swarovski® Elements.
In order for the browbands to fully develop their brilliance, they require special care and attention:
Crystal headbands must not be bent or stretched beyond their specified shape; this could permanently damage the crystal chains or lead to the loss of individual stones.
Classic leather care products for the bridle can coat the crystals with a film that is difficult to remove, thus taking away their shine. For the care of the brow bands, soft cloths are suitable, such as those used for cleaning screens or eyeglass lenses.Small brushes or soft (tooth) brushes are also ideal helpers for cleaning small gaps. Water is not harmful to the crystals - lukewarm water and a mild soap can therefore be used to clean stubborn dirt without any problems. However, long-term contact with moisture should be avoided at all costs. You should therefore dry the headband well after care or a ride in the rain.
It is advisable to check the bezels of the crystals regularly. If the small metal teeth have opened a little, a single stone could be lost.
II. Fabric care
Textiles with crystals & rhinestone embellishments
Products with fine crystal and rhinestone decorations, such as show shirts or saddle pads, require increased care during cleaning. In principle, the gentlest washing cycle is recommended for each textile product, which at the same time still does justice to the degree of soiling - the individual washing recommendations for each article should always be observed.
To protect the rhinestone ornaments during the wash cycle from friction caused by other textiles, wash bags, among other things, can provide reliable services. Hand washing can also have a positive effect on the life of delicate and elaborate ornaments.
